It's a Heat Wave!

"Meet the New Hawaiian Tropic Girl!"
The temperatures hit 80 this week, and Kyla pulled out her beautiful new Hawaiian outfit and flowered shoes. She also got to go to lunch with an old friend (Erin, who is 15-months) and three future friends (three of my friends who are all pregnant). It was a grand outing, and she was really excited to watch all the people and toss Cheerios and graham crackers everywhere.

Mom, where are you?

"You are going to pull this picture out with every boyfriend, aren't you?"
"Who moved your cheese? It wasn't me. . .honest!"
"Now I know why mom looks so tired. Playing in the kitchen is exhausting!"

What a week! Mom took another trip to Leavenworth. . .I'm starting to wonder if she is on a work release program or something. I miss her terribly when she is gone. Then dad had school, so I went and hung out with grandma & grandpa for a couple of days to entertain them. It was rough being spoiled and pampered, but someone had to do it.
I got my second tooth on the bottom this week and am trying to figure out why all people want for Christmas is these things. . .they kind of hurt. I also tried some parsnips and turnips this week, and they weren't too bad smothered in gravy. It makes the parents awfully happy when I eat something new, so what the heck, I'll give them a little joy in their lives. Now, if I could just get them to share their Haagen Dazs!

Time for Kyla to write her own blog!

"I have the best looking daddy in the whole world! "
"You aren't going to believe this! So, I went over to the toy department and this kid who is like 2 inches taller than me. . ."
You said books were food... what? "Brain" food? Is there a difference?

Mom and dad are really busy this week, and they figured I'm old enough to write my own blog on occasion, so here it goes. It was another week of playing, reading (eating) books, eating (mangos are my new favorite food), looking cute, sleeping, and cuddling. It is a rough life, but I somehow manage.

A week of changes. . .

"Check out my pretty new shoes. All the better to walk all over dad with!"

"You better not be eyeing my popsicle, mom! I'm not sharing this one!"
"Hey there. . .I was just crunching my way through the Sunday paper. Do you have the Funnies?"

It has been a week of changes and new experiences for Kyla. Yes, she is wearing her first pair of pink Nike's in the picture above. While she isn't walking or even crawling, she is constantly wanting to stand, which was leading to all kinds of dirty little socks when we went out. We might have also bought her a pair or two of new shoes on that trip. . .Imelda Marcos, watch out!

We are also expanding her culinary horizons. After weeks of spitting out anything other than oatmeal or pears (and we had tried darn near every fruit, vegetable, cereal, and Cheerio), Kyla finally took to some new foods this week including graham crackers, vanilla wafers, and she was absolutely passionate about the orange popsicle! She may have liked the popsicle so much, because she finally got her first new tooth this week! In addition to her first bottom front tooth, she has one more on the bottom and four on the top ready to pop through any day!

Kyla also had her nine month check and shots. The girl is the spitting image of Ken, but apparently, she has my height for now. Here are her 9 month stats:

Height: 26 inches (8%)
Weight: 16 lbs. 14 oz. (20%)
Head: 45 cm (80%)
