It's a Girl!!

We got the amnio results on Wednesday and found out that we are having a healthy baby girl in about 22 weeks! We are both really excited, and Ken is doing his yoga to prepare for being wrapped around such a tiny little finger. Now we just need to think of girl names instead of calling her "the kid."

And the Ultrasound Says. . .

Well, we had another ultrasound this week. Very happy that everything looked good for the health of the kid. After the normal checks, the Tech asked if we wanted to know if it was a boy or girl. I don't even think she finished the question before we both said YES! Now for the tricky part... convincing a 5oz kid to jiggle in just the right position for a peek. I think the actual conversation went something like this "Oh! there you go it's a b..., wait, definitely a g..., no, its gotta be a .... Well, I guess we can throw out the 1% chance of it being a wiener dog, because at least it's human!"

Needless to say, the ultrasound was less than conclusive. We seem to have a very modest kid (at least for now). Guess we'll just have to wait for the results of the amnio...

The bun has popped!!

Just a very odd week. I had an amniocentesis, ultrasound, and my 16-week check on Monday, which Ken will tell you about, because as soon as I saw the size of the needle, I don't remember much else. On Tuesday, I looked a bit chubby, but I'm thinking I may have been abducted by aliens, because I woke up Wednesday looking seriously pregnant! If it keeps up like this for another five months, I'm going to need to rent storage space for the kid somewhere else!

Girl or Boy?

Ken and I are starting to place bets on if this kid will be a girl or a boy. I'm thinking it's a boy, and Ken is thinking a girl. Being at the lucky age of 35, I have an amniocentesis this week, so we should know the answer to this question in about two weeks.

While we wait, we decided to have some fun and tried a couple online quizzes. . .the results:

39% chance of a boy

60% chance of a girl

I'm guessing the other 1% is a wiener dog?

60% chance of a boy

40% chance of a girl

Says it is a boy.

75% chance of a girl

It's a girl!

50% chance of being a boy

50% chance of being a girl

Hmmm. . .this one seems the most accurate. :)

Anyone else have an opinion?

Ken and Shopping

Well, I guess it's my turn to write this week's installment:

Although I usually like going shopping as much as the proverbial root canal, I am getting fairly comfortable going with Holly for maternity clothes and for the most part, I've been able to hold a straight face when she tries on some of those flowery, bow-laden tops. One time I even picked out an outfit Holly actually approved of!!! (Note: this is coming from the guy that can manage to mismatch a shirt with blue jeans)

The fun side of shopping is going to the mega-baby stores (not meaning stores for mega-babies... we're definitely hoping for one on the small side, especially considering our rather obvious size difference) At any rate, we usually skim by the aisles of bottles, diapers, formula, and other boring things we have no clue about and go straight for the TOYS! There is just so much cool stuff for the wee-one-to-be. We can easily burn a few hours playing with all that stuff. We figure we won't ever need to get any of it, we'll just bring the kid with us and play right there in the store. I'm sure there will be more to come on that strategy...
