It appears our future daughter went from the shy and quiet type, skipped over the light little flutters I was supposed to feel, and went straight to kick-boxing. I think Ken is starting to doubt me, because every time I tell him that she is doing this, he puts his hand on my belly and she stops. . .already playing the parents against each other. Is this a bad sign?

We Survived!
We finally made it through Babies R Us and Wal Mart to register without panicking and running out. Okay, so we got a little skittish and the Moms had to barricade the doors to keep us from fleeing a few times, but still, we made it! We feel so savvy now that we know what we need. The next challenge is we only have a bit under 20 weeks to figure out what some of this stuff is for!

Half-way there!!

I felt it was deserving of its own mid-week posting that I'm half-way there today! I must admit that I'm struggling a bit with the half-empty/half-full dilemma, since I still have 20 weeks to go.
I also had my 20-week check and ultrasound yesterday, and all is well with our little girl. She is about 6" long, weighing in at around 11 ounces now, and as you can tell, she is terribly photogenic.

So That's What it is. . .
Okay, so we did our research and found out the differences between a Bumbo, Bundler, and a Boppy Pillow. We had studied. We thought we were prepared. Then we walked in the door of Babies R Us. We were confronted with 30 brands of different types of bottles--big bottles, little bottles, bottles that prevent colic, bottles that prevent gas, bottles that make babies sing instead of cry. . .okay, maybe not that last one. The next aisle contained 50 types of pacifiers-- all shapes, all sizes, all colors, and all different benefits. Some questions that troubled us: Are the orthodontic ones supposed to keep the kid from needing braces? Will Gerber pay for the braces if they don't work? How "natural" can a pacifier be when it's made of silicone? We didn't think it could get any worse. . .then, shockingly, we even found 5 varieties of Boppy Pillows! We were defeated. We hung our heads in shame and called in reinforcements. . .the moms. They have agreed to bail us out and help us register next weekend.
Also, Sydney and Ken felt it necessary to remind me that while I'm rounding out nicely, they have managed to maintain their flat little bellies and wanted to show them off in the photo. Yep, I feel loved!

Not that I'm counting or anything. . .
18 Weeks Down, 22 to Go!
We did decide it was time to at least figure out what supplies we'll need when our little bundle of trouble arrives. So, never having been around babies, I sent an inquiry to some friends and family members. I was expecting things like a crib and diapers, but I wasn't expecting the 157 item lists! She is so little, how can she possibly need so much?? I have also decided it is in my best interest to join "I know nothing about babies anonymous." Thus, I am practicing step one. . .When I got the lists, there are at least 10 items that I didn't even have the vaguest clue what they were! Off to do some research to figure those out. . .
