We've been showered!

Last Sunday, we traveled out to Indiana, and Ken's family threw us an amazing shower for the new big one. . .I've ceased to refer to her as "little," since she has started taking over the space previously reserved for my lungs! All I can say is that I have a feeling our daughter will be rather spoiled.

I do have to admit that my favorite gifts were the ones for Ken shown below.

Ken's "Diaper Emergency" kit which included the "Stain Guard" apron, safety goggles, rubber gloves, and a tool belt with a diaper, wipes, hand sanitizer, and Butt Paste. . .if he has gloves is the hand sanitizer for her?

He also got this lovely "Substitute for Mom" t-shirt, which will surely come in handy when I start traveling again!

Did they have stuff like this when we were babies?

Is it bad that I'm slightly jealous of my new daughter's first bed? My sister sent us a Pack n Play as a baby gift, and I didn't realize until we assembled it that it is an "all-in-one-baby-care-system." Apparently, this thing serves as a play pen, changing table, diaper storage unit, bassinet that includes a vibrating mattress (I may borrow that from her!) and plays five pieces of classical music, 5 nature sounds, and has a night light, diaper changing light, and mobile to entertain the wee one. Makes me wonder if I can find an adult-sized one! Now I just need to figure out how to get the thing to change diapers for us!

I love technology!

It was a really busy week! I started the week with my 28-week check, and all is well with the little girl and me (Woo Hoo. . .no more nasty orange stuff to drink!). Plus, at this visit, they did one of the new 4D ultrasounds. It has to be the coolest thing ever. I included two of her first portraits below!
Yesterday, Ken and I attended our first class. . .this one on breastfeeding. It was definitely an experience, and our little daughter was really jumping around during class. . .Ken is convinced it was because we were talking about food!
Here are the portraits. Her arm is just fine. . .has to do with the "depth" of the ultrasound.

"Wow, I should have had a V8!"

"Just smiling and plotting new ways to torture mom. "

81 days to go!

I just realized that I've been pregnant for almost 200 days! If our little girl doesn't decide she is fed up with me before, my Dr decided because of my size and medical history, she will be evicted from her current accommodations via C-section on July 25.

Our daughter has spent this week being a big troublemaker. First, she learned the fun trick of getting under my ribs, kicking my lungs, and using my bladder as a trampoline. Then, she finally got brave enough to take on Ken. He thought feeling the "little thumps" was so cute, so he decided to put his ear to my belly to hear her heartbeat. She promptly gave him a good swift kick to the ear. Somehow, I feel just a little vindicated. :)
