Party at the Farm. . .

"My second first birthday cake. . .I think mom & dad had fun making this."
"Grandpa, when does the parade for my birthday start."
"Wow! You guys did all of this for me?"
"Umm. . .mom?? dad?? Where are you??"
"You may be my cousin and bigger than me, but you better stop eyeing my presents."

Mom and dad took me to grandma and grandpa's to celebrate my first birthday, and I got to go to my first parade. . .the funny thing is that it was mom's first parade, too! I got to see tractors and horses and fire trucks and I can't wait until I'm old enough to go scurrying after all the candy! It was way too cool! Only 3 days until I turn 1!

My last days in the zeros!

"I know that I want to walk in your footsteps one day, mom. I figured, why not start now?"

"Whatcha doing dad?"
"I wasn't going to tip this over, honest. I was just trying to help you take out trash."
"You want to sit here? But I saved this seat for mom!"
"Just practicing poses for my one year photo shoot."

Yes, I will be one in a week. Can you believe it? I know mom and dad can't. I guess time must fly when you have a kid as cute and lovable as me! This is going to be an exciting couple of weeks for me. I get to have party number 2 at grandma & grandpa's farm, then dad finishes his job on Monday (I get him for 21 whole days! Woo Hoo!), then 1-year pictures on Tuesday, my real birthday and party on Wednesday, and dad's birthday is on the 4th. I should be sufficiently caked out and exhausted by then.

As an FYI, dad's company shuts down on June 30, but he starts a job as a Senior Reliability Engineer with Kodak on July 21. Does this mean even more pictures of me??

Kyla 1st Birthday Party

"If I take my hand off to open this present, you won't steal my balloons, will you?"
"You're just jealous that all these presents are for me!"
"Mom, why is there a big number 1 on my head?"
"Umm. . .this is kind of messy. Does anyone have a fork?"

My Aunt Michele was in town, so we did an early birthday celebration. I got lots of presents and the family all wanted me to touch this sticky brown thing. I touched it, but they are crazy if they thought I was getting any of that near my face!

The Countdown has begun. . .

"This is an exercise ball? But it is so much fun!"
"Just cruising around in the dress I picked out all by myself."
"I know Aunt Michele wanted more pictures, but geez, mom, I'm getting a sunburn from all the camera flashes!"

I can't believe Kyla will be 1 in just a couple of weeks. Time has flown! I was accused of being stingy on pictures last week, so to make up for it, I'll do two postings this week (yep, lots of cute photos!). Yesterday, Kyla went to her cousin Katie's birthday party and decided she really likes lemon cake and ice cream (what girl doesn't?) She is now speed crawling and getting more stable as she stands and walks around furniture. She also had her first birthday party on Friday, so her Aunt Michele, who was in from Japan could attend. Don't worry. . .pictures and two more parties to follow!

Helping mom recover from jet lag

"I don't know what jet lag is, but it appears to be contagious"

Mom just got back from Hawaii, and she got me the coolest clothes and books. I can't wait to start wearing them! My new favorite foods are cantaloupe and french toast sticks. Yummy! Oh, and with everyone coming and going so much, I've learned to wave good-bye and clap when they return.

I'm getting excited, only 22 days until my first birthday!
