Alaska: Day 8 (7/7/17)--Portage & Whittier

At the Portage Ranger Station learning about the Good Friday Earthquake.
As close as we got to kayaking

Mom resting on a big glacier worm

 Dad and I being goofy
 Yes, we are nuts
Life-sized mosquitoes. . .ok, not quite, but they were everywhere in swarms.
Waiting for the one-way tunnel to Whittier. Both cars and trains use the same tunnel.
Here we go to Whittier. The locals say that everything is sh@#*ier in Whitter, so we had to go.
Yes, we are straddling the train tracks.
 Good chowder and spotted shrimp.

Whittier is a fishing town. One set of condos and then all the boats. No houses here.

 Whittier waterfall

The pedestrian tunnel under the tracks
That is us way way down there.
Exhausted, but woke up for Moose's Tooth pizza which is one of the 10 best in the country. I don't like pizza, but this stuff was good. We got: the Amazing Apricot-- Blackened Chicken, Cream Cheese, Apricot Sauce,  Carrot Threads, Green Onions, Cilantro, Mozzarella, Provolone. It sounds odd, but was delicious!
